Fatal Error when tring to plot |
|
|
I recently got a new Dell with Windows XP Professional operating system. I use an Encad CadJet 2 plotter. I installed my AutoCAD 2002 software and the most recent drivers from Encad for my plotter. The problem is that when I try to plot An E1 size drawing I get a "Fatal error out of memory - shutting down" message and then AutoCAD crashes. I can plot the same drawing on a C size layout with no problem. Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Does your driver offer the option to process the plot file in computer
instead of in printer?
Otherwise, your plot file size is exceeding the plotters ability to handle
it.

I am using software control from my computer. Its the same set up I was using with my old computer and I never had any problems.

funny - we're having the same issue with our new Dell's running XP as well - but our problem is intermittent - it doesn't always happen - but when it does, it happens trying to do the second plot, after the first succcessful plot - it crashes immediately - before the plot dialog box comes up.
Dell Precision 370
Windows XP - SP2
3.2 GHz
2 GB RAM
ATI FireGL V3100 - 128 MB
I get Fatal Error - 0x16321000 at memory address 7c809e45h
is anybody else experiencing these issues as well? |

| I'm glad I'm not alone with this problem. I have tried multiple things to correct the problem and came to the conclusion that AutoCAD 2002 is just not compatible with XP Pro. I have discovered that I can plot the same files on E1-size using the batch plot utility though. |

Incorrect, AutoCAD is Microsoft Certified to run on all Flavors of XP. I
would most likely say that the problem must exist elsewhere. If both of you
are using different plot drivers for different plotters, I have to assume
that it must be the only other common denominator you both have mentioned,
The DELL. This however is assumed only because DELL has been the only
common component, and that DELL like to do branding customizations on the
operating system. These customizations may well be conflicting with how
other programs react on those computers. If you have someone do a generic
Windows XP operating system load, from Windows disks (not DELL restore
disk), The generic Windows should work perfectly with AutoCAD. |
