Selecting items in the Plot Style Table list |
|
|
We have many CTB files (65+). When selecting a CTB from the "Plot style
table" list in the plot dialog, it jumps down (2) places.
ie: if you want to pick item 36.ctb it selects item 38.ctb
Is this a Windows bug or an AutoCAD bug?

Russ,
I have noticed that this problem seems to come up once some un-godly number
of CTBs are in the list. Given that the un-godly number of CTBs is a problem
in and of itself, I found a solution that addresses both problems. However,
it only works if the number of CTBs is because every project has a fair
number of CTBs, and individual users are not working on more than a few
projects at a time.
If this sounds like it would work for you, let me know and I will try to
write up an explanation.
Best,
Gordon |

Gordon, we have an un-godly number of CTB's because we are a consultant to
many architects... each having their own CTB. I would like your ideas on
solving this issue.

No fix except to lighten the numbers.

I will work on a writeup this week-end, and post on Monday. I am thinking
about submitting it to AUGI World as well, so comments and suggestions will
be very much appreciated.

Russ,
sorry I didn't get this posted sooner. I actually am running into problems, specifically it looks like the technique I used at work only works in ADT. Now, I would expect the basic AutoCAD functionality NOT to change in ADT, but I think we may have to give up on that.
Anyway, here is a simplified run down of my technique. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.
a.. Create a folder on the server, called Plot Styles.
b.. Put a sub folder there for Office Standards, and one for each project. I usually just name the project folders with the job number.
c.. Populate these folders with their appropriate CTBs/STBs.
d.. Create a folder somehwere that users can get to easily. I put a folder called _Project CTBs in the root of the projects folder. The underscore sorts it to the top of the list. I also make this folder read only, so the shortcuts don't get moved rather than copied.
e.. Now create shortcuts to all the subfolders in the Plot Styles folder, and place those shortcuts in the _Project CTBs folder.
To set up AutoCAD to have a limited CTB list:
a.. Go to the _Project CTBs folder, and Copy the Office Standards shortcut and a shortcut for a project.
b.. In AutoCAD, go to Files/Plot Style Manager to open up the user Plot Styles folder.
c.. Copy the shortcuts.
d.. Now AutoCAD should give you the Office Standard CTBs, and those for the single project, but NOT those for the other projects. ADT certainly does it.
Let me know if that works on your end. If it doesn't work in raw autoCAD I have some complainin' to do ;)
Best,
Gordon |
