You'll need to edit the .shp file for your font, then recompile it back to a
shx file.
Read up on shapes in the Customization Guide.
If you don't have the shp file, but only the shx files, Express Tools has a
routine to decompile shx files to shp files.

Here's an example of the character 1/2 from my file. You display the 1/2
symbol by typing %%147 or \U+0093

*093,45,onehalf
2,0d4,1,8,(22,0),2,8,(-14,3),
3,30,4,20,
5,7,00031,6,
3,20,4,30,
2,8,(-6,-26),
3,30,4,20,
5,7,00032,6,
3,20,4,30,
2,8,(29,10),0

Press F1 and read the appropriate sections of the Customization Guide. Then you
can open the ACAD.LIN file in any text editor (i.e., Notepad) and copy/paste a
linetype that's close to the one you want, and modify it (for example,
substitute your own legend for "GAS"). You may have to adjust the spacing a bit
if you make radical changes in the text content. The meaning and purpose of each
field in ACAD.LIN is explained in the Customization Guide. Also see the MKLtype
and MLShape in Express.
