I'm having trouble getting autocad 2000 to work on win xp home or pro. It works fine on win me,but when I upgrade I get :"acad.exe bad image. The application or dll C:\progra~1\common~1\autode~1\acdb15.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Compatability wizard and win2000 setting is no help . I tried downloading new acdb15.dll and acutil15.dll ,but then get a "can't find procedure point entry error. Any ideas. I might try a dual OS boot on hard drive to work around.
Thanks anyone,
Ralph

The first recommendation is to upgrade your AutoCAD. Assuming that is not
possible, I need to know a little more. Are you running an upgrade install
of Win XP over your Win Me install? Or are you doing a fresh install? If you
are doing the upgrade install, you might want to try unistalling AutoCAD,
run the windows upgrade, and then reinstall AutoCAD. If you are doing a
fresh install of windows then you should be reloading anyway. So I am not
certain what the exact problem may be. One other thing to consider is Win XP
uses security permissions and Win ME doesn't. I have found users need to be
atleast set to the power user level to avoid problems.

Have you tried XP's Compatibility mode? We're having absolutely no problems
with any version of AutoCAD in XP as early as R14.

I reformatted to two partitions and put ME on one and XP on other. Everything (autocad 2000)works now.
I'm not sure why I couldn't use compatability mode ,once I upgraded from ME(new install) to XP PRO(upgrade),because it worked in ME. Trying to get working for a buddy who is taking classes and uses autocad and CNC programs.I should be able to duplicate my experimenting on spare computer and reformat his laptop to dual OS
I had set up the computer as the administrator but I may have to look into the security permissions on XP more and retry.
But at least I know I can get the dual OS to work autocad 2000
Thanks all
