What is needed?

Many years ago I had a short three-month AutoCAD job with a very early
version in the early 80's and the employer had PCB modules on it. I was a
job-shopper on a defense dept contract so I didn't get a chance to look
under the hood. On the surface, I remember the auto-routing was not very
helpful. I'm wondering how PCB work is done with AutoCAD now. I know I need
the electrical symbols but what modules would be needed to add auto-routing
and anything exotic that may have been added since the old days? I have
not used AutoCAD since. Can AutoCAD 2005 be used effectively or would R14
be best/faster for this? Does AutoCAD for x64 exist yet?
