3D solids & union |
|
|
Hello,
I have some 3D solids and I can't use the 'union' command. All of them
are parts of house and simple boxes. And I get those errors:
1)The Boolean operation on solids failed.
Modeling Operation Error:
Coincident face_face_ints with different body vertices.
2)The Boolean operation on solids failed.
Modeling Operation Error:
Vertex intersection found but stored pointer NULL.
3)The Boolean operation on solids failed.
Modeling Operation Error:
Inconsistent containment of intersection curve.
I try to help my partner (she is an author of that file), but I don't
know where is the problem. I have 3y. 3D experience and I am clueless.
What I have to do?
Meelis

The first thing you might try is to use the Repair feature on the CD -
assuming that you are using R2004. If that does not clear up the problem,
you may have to remove 2004 from your computer, reboot and re-install.
Failing all of the above, you might try to post (zip) the files here and
someone may be able to do the unioning for you. |

You don't need to re-install AutoCAD. This is a relatively common occurrence when working with 3D solids where UNIONing will result in extremely thin "wedges" of solid or gaps in solids. OR when two coincident faces have a very small overlap in the plane of the faces where UNIONing will result in very thin "ledges" at that plane.
Find the offending solids by UNIONing two at a time. Once they are determined, you can use SOLIDEDIT Face Move to modify the offending face. Make sure that the faces of the desired UNION solids either overlap by a small amount, OR they have precisely aligned edges. |
