I'm Very new to Autocad and having a problem with drawing a line by direction. I choose line, then by direction, set a starting point, enter a quadrant, enter a bearing and distance but my line seems to keep going and i can't find an endpoint. Please help.

After you draw your line, type
ZOOM
E
and then LIST the line. How long is it?

Already tried zoom, still not enough.
The line is 489 ft.

Regardless of how long the line is, ZOOM Extents will display it all; that's
what "Extents" means. Is 489' the length you intended the line to be, the
length it ended up (and shows with the LIST command), or both?

One thing I've seen before with "very green" users is that they don't
realize that virgin AutoCAD defaults to a 9"x12" screen and can't figure out
why a 1000' line won't fit.

Yup! Right on both counts.

Very Green: Set up you drawing with the plot style you're going to be using BEFORE you start your masterpiece. See if the line still is " 'way off yonder".
