Slow Saves |
|
|
I have autocad 2000 on ME platform on a 4 year old 9oomhz pc
with 512 memeory.
I save some drawings that have a clients title block on them and it takes over 10 minutes to save this 2D drawing. It is just text and lines.
Can anyone please make some suggestions? This problem kills productivity, especially during crunch time.

PURGE and AUDIT the file help?
Turn QTEXT on help?
Switch to SHX from TTF?

None of those seem to help.
The file I'm dealing with is an autocad 2005 ADT drawing saved back to 2000.
Do you think that has anything to do with it?

Oh yes, big time.
Try SAVEAS to R12DXF, then Import the file back in see if that helps.
Also consider asking the sender to Explode the file for you, removing all
AEC entities and bringing everything down to the line/arc level for you,
PURGE, then SAVEAS R12DXF for you to import as well.
After that, needing ADT would be the next thing to reach for.
