Hi, Larry;

There is one more way to apply a hatch to a DVIEW section but just as
cumbersome. While in a master file (where the model, not Xref is) create a
section you need with the SECTION tool. Use Copy with Base Point (Edit
menu) and select the resulting region. For a base point I usually specify
a point at 0,0,0.
Paste that region into the drawing where you want a section to be.
Position the UCS Origin at any point of that region. In PS create a DVIEW
as usual. For a Front clipping plan distance from target is 0,01. This
produces better view then distance from target 0.
Regions can be hatched by selecting them (Select Object in Hatch dialog
box). They althoug can be transfered to PS if needed. Should they stay in
MS than it is a good idea to place them on a designated layer.

Regards,

Igor.

Yes I agree Solxxx commands are limited and
I didn't think of point filters. I never did like the way soldraw made
hatch. (you can't change the angle for different parts or
materials)
It still seems like alot of extra work to construct the outlines
which you would have to redraw if the part changed.
Thanks so much for your insight in this matter I do appreciate it.
