I am working on ACAD2005. Another user only has ACAD2000i. When I save my
drawings, I save as 2000 so that the user can use my drawings. User is
having problems with Copy/Pasteclip. User cannot Copyclip from my drawing
and/or cannot Pasteclip into his other drawing.

Has anybody else run into this or have a workaround?

I just had a similar problem, although the files were all R2000. It
seems the items I was trying to copyclip were grouped or blocked, one I
exploded the items, I was able to copyclip them.

I hope that helps.

Exploding everything makes the Copy/Pasteclip work - but then all the
dimensions and attributes get messed up and that's not what we want. Any
clues as to what exactly it is we need to get rid of? User thought it was
the hatching, but then the Pasteclip didn't work correctly either.

I have a suspicion that the problem has to do with Proxies. What I have
noticed is that the drawings that I have problems with are the same ones
that open with the Proxy notice.

"The last command created proxy objects and proxy entities
to represent original objects and entities whose parent ARX
application(s) are currently not loaded.

These proxy objects and proxy entities may yield unexpected
results during certain operations."

I have been able to narrow down the problem to missing application
"AcDbDimAssoc". This is an application for dimensioning, and that
happens to be the elements that are causing problems for me. When I
choose all other elements other than dimensions, the copyclip/pasteclip
works just fine. It only seems to fail when I try to copyclip the
dimension elements. The only way around it for me is to explode the
dimensions or delete them prior to copyclip. If I knew where to get
this application I could load it and then I bet everything will work
properly. The files that I have problems with may or may not have been
created with R2000, so it might be an app that is part of R2002, 2004,
2005. I just don't know.

Anyway, that is what I have learned, let me know if you find the same to
be true, and especially if you find a solution.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Thanks for the insight, Brett. I'll pass along
the info to the user.
Thanks Again.

I've been having the same issue with files that we have gotten from a design house I believe they are using AutoCAD 2005 but save it as 2000 until we can load 2005. Now I know I'm not crazy! Any solutions other than working around it with exploding? Hopefully we'll be up and running with 2005 soon and it won't be a problem.

Thanks for any further input!
Lisa
