cannot find a dll or other file that it needs |
|
|
Hi,
When I start AutoCAD I get these messages in the command bar:
C:\AutoCAD2000\acEplotX.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs.
C:\AutoCAD2000\achlnkui.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs.
Also, on some files (not all) when I try to open the files I get an error:
"Fatal Error: unable to load Modeler DLL"
Finally, I can open other files but when I select an entity or object and I want to see its properties then appear a pop window with the following message: "No selection"; however I have already selected the entity before.
Now if a co-worker open starts AutoCad on my machine (but logged in as them) there are no problems and everything works ok.
I tried reloading AutoCAD twice. Once over the old install and a second time after uninstalling it. Nothing helps. I started thinking it was something to do with the Registry but I am not sure it is.
Is there some user specific configuration file I can check? It is not the path, that is only 87 characters long.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks....Mike

Make sure when you unistall AutoCAD that you mannually go back and delete
all associated directories. The unistall often leaves trash around that can
cause problems with new installs. Once you have done that then try
reinstalling. Also make sure to install all the updates and patches for both
CAD and your OS.

Do I need to mess with the registry or just delete the FileSystem directories. I assume they are all contained under one directory, or do they put things in teh Program Files directory?
Also, why would it work for some people and not others?
Thanks...Mike
