I am installing network deployments on Land Desktop 2005 with Civil Design,
Survey and Raster Design. They are to be installed in that order.

The LDT installation goes fine and the program can be run. When I try to
install Civil Design when I hit Next on the initial dialog box I get an
error: C:\Documents and Settings\JessupA\Local Settings\Temp\Adsklicense.ini
not found.

The file exists in this path. I have administrator rights.

This error seems to be isolated to certain computers. I can't find a common
denominator between. I am certain I can't install on IBM NetVistas with Win
2000. I can install on an IBM IntelliStation with XP. Can on an HP Vectra
Win 2000 but not on an HP Visualize with Win 2000.

Autodesk says it must be a rights issue. In order to eliminate this I had an
IBM NetVista re-imaged and started from scratch. The only person who logged
on other than myself was the Tech who imaged the HD. I logged on as an
administrator and did all the autodesk installs. Same error.

All articles in the knowledge base also refer to rights issues.

All the network deployments were created by me and have all SP's and HF's
applied. I was getting the same error right out of the box before the SP's.

I'm hoping that someone has a clue to what may be causing the hang-up. With
all the errors in the 2005 products I'd just put this off as shelf-ware but
my networking department is insistent that all CAD users should be brought
down to power users and I need to transition to 2005 to make this happen.

Thanks,

Hey Allen,

Off the top of my head it sounds like a TEMP or TMP environment variable
issue. I've seen cases where TEMP was set to a valid folder, but TMP was
not. I believe parts of the deployment actually use the TMP variable
rather than TEMP. Why? Who knows.

Logging into a Novell network can change one or both of those variables to
invalid folders. If you use Novell, is there any way you can try
installing without logging in?

Other than that... Use Filemon (sysinternals.com) to see if you can spot
where the ACCDENIED error is. Also, when the error is on screen, open
Process Explorer (also from sysinternals.com) to determine the "command
line" used to open deploy.exe or msiexec.exe. You may see an invalid TMP
path specified.

Also, if the machine has a LOCAL version of jessupa in the Administrative
group along with a DOMAIN\jessupa version, try completely removing the local
account. I've seen a number of problems with duplicate local/domain users.

Didn't you post this awhile ago?
I thought I saw it sit there with no response for until it rolled over in my browser view.
I have not seen this problem and I don't have a good answer for you, but in the mean time have you tried rebuilding the deployment site?
Maybe re-download and reapply the patches?
Have you checked with the reseller?
If you are under subscription have you tried the on-line support option?

I'm currently in a mixed 2004-2005 environment and we just are not having an unusual amount of difficulty with 2005,
[just trying to get it off of your shelf.

Hope you get some help.

John,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did post this a while ago. Maybe 4-5 months. I'm
back into it again because out MIS department is back on the kick that all
CAD users must not be administrators, only power users. Most of the users
are being upgraded from LDT 3. LDT 3, actually the Civil Design module, will
not work without administrator status.

I've rebuilt the deployments about 7 times trying to fix this and Raster
Design issues. Never helped with any. My reseller called autodesk. Autodesk
says it's a rights issue. I'm going to try the suggestions Chris Dodge
posted. Hopefully that will get me somewhere. Otherwise I'd leave 2005 off
those machines.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the suggestions. We are using Novell. I'll go through your
suggestions and see if they work. There a lot more than I got from autodesk.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again
Allen

Just updating. I've tried everything I could do on my own. Checked the
Environmental variables and the accounts. Neither seemed to be the cause. I
tried the install without the Novel login. I'm waiting to see if our MIS
Dept will try something like the Filemon/Process Explorer you mentioned.

Thanks aging

Allen

Kinda funny... I just had this error after customizing a LDT deployment
today. It only happens for me after turning off SILENT mode on my
deployment image.

Easy fix... Find the "Bin\ACADFeui\Eula" folder on the CD and copy all files
to AdminImage\Eula folder.
You have to do basically the same thing for the EXPRESS folder or it wont
install.

Great! Good clue. I do have SILENT mode off. I'll give this a try a little
later today.

Many Thanks,

Chris,

You did it! For some reason the paths on my CD were different. I tried
copying just the correct adsklicense.ini file to the AdminImage\Eula folder.
That didn't work. But when I copied it directly on to the computer I was
installing on it worked fine.

Can't thank you enough.

Just a follow up. Copying the file to the AdminImage folder didn't work on
the first machine but has worked on the rest. Thanks again.

Hope you had a good time in Saratoga.
