Win2000 SP4 not working |

I can't seem to get Win2000 SP4 patch to install on one stand-alone PC with
Win2000pro SP2 installed in order to install R2005.
The reported error is tftp.exe is being run by another application.
I've shut down everything running, went into Services and turned off
everything running that it would let me, I even took TCP/IP offline, and
repeated all in Safe Mode.
tftp.exe is apparently still running.
Any tips from anyone with this one PC?
Otherwise I'm inclined to upgrade it to WinXPPro lol

Could be a Trojan?
Or run Ad-aware or Spy-bot.
Full virus scan.

Can you search it out and temporarily rename in under safe mode? Did you
look to see where it's being loaded in the Registry, mainly the Run keys?

Safe mode won't let me do that: that's the problem. I've stopped everything.

Nice tip, used it to recover a WinXP install recently. Did not seem to work
here though.

Hi Dean,
You could use tools like filemon or Process Explorer form sysinternals to track what use tftp.exe.
Tftp.exe is used with remote installation of product and with a RIS server.
