I have a co-worker who is looking into a new machine for home and wants to
run SW to learn it better or take stuff home to work on.
My concern is the graphics card. Has anyone had any experience with the new
ATI Radeon X300 se? It has the new PCI Express x16 bus with 128MB, but I'm
just concerned with the ATI thing and drivers. It's not listed in the
approved graphics card on the SW site, but that list always seems to be
behind the current list of cards or the drivers and/or cards are slow in
review.

Any thoughts?

Gaming card.

If it isn't tested, it will be, by you or him.
Why not a GeForce? Good at gaming and SW.

My thoughts are to go to ebay and search Nvidia quadro. A 900 xgl is
going for 100.00 to 125.00 and a FX 500 for just above that. That
would be the best bet for saving money.
