Thanks

Hi there,

Have had multitude of problems in the past but seem to have most complex
stuff under control now - what are you trying to do, if you post your
problem there are loads of people here who will help!

Hey Jerry,

From what I saw of your surface designing a while ago, you did a very
good job in SW!
But I agree, SW surfacing seems to be more about workarounds sometimes
and the rebuild times, inconsistences, failures and with associative
parts can be a bear!

Isn't that kind of like asking "how do you tell if a lawyer is lying"? If
his lips are moving, he's lying. If you're doing complex surfaces in
SolidWorks, you're having problems. If you're Ed Eaton or Paul Salvador,
then you quickly find workarounds for your problems. If you're me, you're
frustrated and looking at other software.

Or.... how do you tell if a salesman is fishing?

It looks like a lead-in to a sales pitch. I looked at the website
– they sell VX software. No mention of SW anywhere. So my first
impression is that it is a loaded question.

If it is a loaded qustion and people who need better surfacing are
tired of struggling with SolidWorks, is this really a bad thing ?

Would this be a better newsgroup with others posting / showing how the
system they like works ?

Would a more positive atmosphere and approach to competitors of
SolidWorks be a good thing for this newsgroup ?

Who benefits from a more open approach to competitive software to
SolidWorks being discussed / debated ?

Which system, if any, can YOU actually use?
For what?

Exclude DOS BobCad for drawing fillets tangent to
lines to find tangent points in 2D using the dimensioning
capabilities (though even that probably confuses you).

Nice catch! I didn't think to check up on the one doing the posting.

Tacky, Mr. Panes. You should identify yourself as a VAR when you post this
kind of stuff.

Yes, it's too bad because it really is a good question. The problem
that even Paul S. and Ed E. have are that they and some of the rest of
us a reaching uncharted ground in SolidWorks. And what I mean by
uncharted ground is the training materials from the vendor itself.
Ed's stuff is great and so are Paul examples and Matt''s and Mike
Wilson and there are a few others out here with good examples but, they
learned some of the same ways we are. Trial and Error. And any CAD
system runs into the same problem. Sooner or later you run out of
advanced documentation. This was a comment that I recently brought up
to John McEleney at a users conference and he told me they are working
on it. I'll trade him anyday with the pressure of stockholders versus
my boss wondering why you can't get 3 fillets to blend out to nothing
without smiling.
