Re: Too many Select Objects and get Object id |

i appreciate the "extra" thoughts on this....but....
fields retrieve the area based on the object id. So if the object id stays the same so will the area, and that isn't what I'm after.
and now that I think about it....this has been a big waste of time for you and me.....sorry! I do appreciate the lil lessons you've given me tho.
I just realized that if I scale it up and down or whatever, I still won't get what I want. Fields update whenever you change the object. So if I scale it up, as soon as I scale it back down, the number will change. And thats not what I was after.
And I am starting to wonder what the heck I was "on" that day, because this so-called work-around was crap from the beginning!

It's all good. It was a little exercise when I had time to do stuff, so it is cool. If you learned something then it was worth the time.
Well good luck on finding what you reall need then.

I hope that I have at least intrigued your interest with A2k5. I can't wait until individuals such as yourself get a hold of this and make some great add-ons and etc.
And yes I have learned quite a bit recently, especially with entsel and ssget, thanks to you of course! I've actually updated several old lisp routines lately with what i've learned here.
Thanks again!
And I think this one will be filed and saved for a better day!

One more thing for you, since you like the entsel, then look into nentsel and nentselp. They lets you select nested items, like attributes within blocks, can be very handy.
Thanks for the boost, but I'm nowhere near most of the people that post here to help out others. I have learned so much here, it blowns my mind most of the time to see how much I don't know, but when I can I like to help.
You have, and I think that where I work is going to skip 2005 and go to 2006, when that happens is another story.

I will look into those further, thanks.
Don't count yourself out, creating minor autolisp commands is a great accomplishment in my eyes. Since first learning autolisp, I've managed to reduce some of the many tedious and time consuming tasks. And for our bosses, they don't care how you did it, as long as you know what you did, so you can do it again when needed!
Just keep on taking a lil bit out every day or so to learn sumtin new, and you'll catch up to the more advanced lispers. At least, that what I "try" to do. And hey, even the old dogs need to learn new tricks! How else do you think they stay ahead of the novices like myself?
I hear ya about tha A2k5 or 6.....
I wish we waited for 2006, we're just now getting everyone on 2005, just in time to receive 2006 in a few months. Then 2006 will prolly sit around and collect dust till they're ready to upgrade everyone AGAIN! To top it off, we're just starting our training classes for 2005.
I'm glad to see someone boss didn't fall for autodesks trick. My bosses are so dead set on making sure we have the newest programs......at this rate I'll never learn everything about LDT or the CAD program running with it! Sorry, you kinda opened a can of worms.......
Just be happy you know how use what is sitting in front of you.....I only wish I could say that! |
