Hi all.

Is there a way to keep the PLT files with raster images (2 bit TIFF, or
truecolor JPG) at a low size?
I mean the original TIFF or JPG file size is very low due to the
compression, but the PLT file (Vectors + Raster Images) is very very big.

I use: HP 1050C (almost the latest drivers v.4.65),Win XP, Autocad 2004 +
Raster Design 2004 (just upgraded to 2005 but did not install yet).

Thanks.

The images are represented in the plotfile as HP-RTL data. The RTL data
format offers some compression alternatives, but they are really only
interesting for driver developers; you have no control over compression
in the Windows driver. You could experiment with "Process in computer"
vs "Process in printer", or with using the HDI DesignJet driver (for the
750C plus). I haven't checked it, but the "Fast (draft)" quality setting
in the driver may also lead to smaller plotfiles as the (RTL) image
resolution will be 300 dpi vs 600 dpi in "Best (enhanced)" mode.
