I am looking for a good video card in the $200-300 range, for use w/
3D Autocad, ADT, Photoshop, and some Inventor.

Thanks in advance for any insight and well-informed opinions.

anything in the 128 mb range will work fine & cost under $100.

anything over that is really geared for 3d online gaming

Agreed. We have some notebooks with the integrated Intel Extreme GFX II.
According to benchmarks on Tom's hardware, it is one of the slowest of all
the integrated graphic chips and integrated graphic chipsets not for gaming!
Yet it blazes through our 3D walkthroughs using Accurender Walkabout and
Navisworks Navigator (Navigator blows Walkabout away in performance with
huge 3D models).

I have not noticed any peculiarities with Nvidia drivers we use with boxes
that have Nvidia cards. Last fall I tried a couple ATI Radeon based cards.
Two of them died, so I shy away from them now.
