2005 Express Tools |
|
|
I've just installed 2005 from 2000i and am wondering what a guy has to do to
get commands like LAYISO to work. I've loaded the acetmain.mns into 2005
from the 2000i program and also put the acettest.fas into the Application
Startup Suite. Every time I try a command from the Express pull-down menu
or try to use a toolbutton, I get an "Autoload failed" message on my command
line. Has Autodesk hardcoded something into 2005 so you have to buy the new
Express Tools Volumes disk? I think it's a bunch of crap that it's an
add-on and not included in the program, especially when they're already
charging about $1500 for the upgrade package.
Any thoughts from all you CAD pros out there?

There is an Express Tools install on the 2005 cd. You must use that.
Autodesk changed compiler version with acad2004.

I can't seem to find it on the disk. The internet instructions says to
insert the disk, and on the "Install" tab, under "Install Supplemental
Tools", is where the Express Tools are supposed to be. I only have two
options under the "Install Supplemental Tools" section and those both apply
to Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The upgrade is technically from MDT5 to Inventor Series 9, but 2000i came
with MDT5 and AutoCAD 2005 comes on the Inventor disk.
Am I looking in the wrong spot on the disk or is the Express Tools not
included with the Inventor disk?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Relz

Thanks for getting me this far. I found and used the ExpressTools.msi to
bring up the program to install the express tools. I went through the
installation instructions and it loaded Express Tools Volumes 1-9. Now, how
do I load it into AutoCAD? I went to Tools - Customize - Menus..., then
Browse; under C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2005\Express\ there isn't a Menu
File there (*.mnc, *.mns). Shouldn't there be one there to load? The
Installer didn't place an Express Tools pulldown menu in my AutoCAD either.
Thanks,
Relz |

Searce for <acetmain.mns or mnu> on your computer, that is the menu file for
the express tools.
