V 8.5 of course, JAVA is still there but it is ssslllloooowww and hasn't
seemed to catch on. VBA seems to be the latest buzz and mdl is still going
strong.
V8.5 can read.write acad 2004 but as of this week autodesk has just released
acad 2005!!!

And a right b****y shambles the installation has been - AutoDesk get this

The buzz at the moment for the future is .Net support in future Mozart
release. However, this is purely based on rumor. Although if you are
patient, you can make 8.x work very nicely with .Net now.

FYI, from what I hear 8.5 is expected to support Acad 2005.

I've tested several hundred acad2005 dwg's and there would appear to be no
change in the format. Ustn v8.5 reads and writes acad2004 and acad2005.
