Solid Works |
|
|
Does anyone have any info on how Solidworks interfaces with MicroStation, if
at all?
Is there a way for Solidworks to export its 3D files to 2D in a DXF format
which MicroStation can then import.
Thanks.

Hi Lorys,
I run a CAD Support service and I had a request to generate 2d manufacture
drawings from Solidworks 3D files.
As I am not too familiar with Solidworks, do you think it is feasible to be
able to work with solidworks 3D files to create working drawings within ustn
( v8) and then export the back to solidworks?
Is there any other utility I could use to translate between the two
programs?
Thanks for your reply and help.
Denis.

Boy thats nuts!
Solid works will make 2 d drgs virtually automatically ... it put lots of us
mechanical detail microstion drafters out of work.
It would even auto dimension after selection of the views..for what ever
projection you wanted...
They have a website and forum...
My advice is buy solid works and use solid works we used to go from ustn for
rough out to solid works for the 3d modelling then to Finite element
analysis modelling stress etc.
I don't remember if you can go back to utn... it was almost 6 years ago and
I was only starting to use it...
If you only have microstation well you use what you have... but solid works
was about the same price back then....
Have you tried to import the sat files into ustn 3d?
