The boss man just sprang for LT 2005, and I wish he coulda afforded the Big
Game.

I am trying to convert a pencil-and-tee square operation to CAAD,
specifically to create/ share dwgs of gas processing equipment (structural
steel, pipe fittings, vessels, P&ID's, etc). I am beginning to learn that a
lot of 3d party stuff won't work with this version; I guess I'll have to
create a library of parts manually.

Can a guy find this sort of stuff on the Net-? I set about building some
screwed fittings a couple of hours ago and it has made me insane.

Too much coffeeeeeee

If the boss man will spring for just a bit more, have a look at the LISP
enabler and other goodies at
http://www.drcauto.com

I thought LT didn't handle 3D. I know there's software out there to "extend"
LT so it acts like the full version. I also know AutoDesk is going after
those programs hammer and tongs to prevent them from getting around the
limitations. Good luck.

In that it handles X, Y, *and* Z coordinates and has a fully customizable
UCS, LT handles 3D very well, thank you. What it does NOT do is solid
modeling; there's a significant difference.

And "going after" the third party add-on vendors doesn't mean they'll be
able to stop them any time soon.

Autocad LT doesn't handle 3d and full Autocad doesn't handle 3D well. If 3d
is what you want, go for something different.

I make my living doing 3D in AutoCAD!

www.emasary.com

I use Accurender, by the way. Approximately 15,000,000,000 easier to use
than and 1/5th the cost of 3D Studio, has an extensive plant library, runs
right out of AutoCAD and has an excellent NG (at news.mcneel.com) and
support website (Accustudio.com).

There are still people mining with pick and shovel too. I wouldn't do it.

Turbocad. Been messing with Rhino a bit lately. Used Inventor for a time.
That was good.

I have to hand it to you. It takes real balls to get on a worldwide
newsgroup and show your ignorence in such a way.
