1,2,3-perspective and cabinet projection |
|
|
Hey,
I'm really new to autocad and just started to pick up the basics. The
one thing I couldn't find was how to create from existing model:
* two-point perspective (xy perspective)
* three-point perspective (xyz perspective)
The real perspective that autocad uses is the one-point perspective
(railroad closes at horizon).
Second thing I was unable to find was how to make cabinet projection -
angle between xy axis 90 and between yz, xz 135 degrees. How can I
change projection angles between axis.
I'm just hoping these things can be done with autocad because I'm have
to show my works on friday :)
Thanks in advance,
Taavi

Don't quite know what you mean by "cabinet projection angle" but here's how
I set up perspectives. Been doing it this way since about 1990. ACAD may
have a simpler method (I know ADT has a camera command but I don't know
about vanilla ACAD) but I'll stick with the tried and true.
1. Go to plan.
2. Type dv (for dynamic view).
3. Select your objects. These are the objects that will be during the dv
session. Objects omitted will still appear in the final perspective even if
you can't see them now.
4. Type po (for points).
5. Click where you want to be looking at, then where you want to be
standing. Yes I know that's ass-backwards. You should now see a 1-point
perspective.
6. Type d (for distance) and just hit Enter. Again this is a stupid but
necessary step.
7. You should now have a "worm's eye" perspective view. Type po again and
manually reenter the coordinate, but this time enter a positive value for z.
If you want two-point perspective, make this number the same for both
location. For 3-point, put in different values. For instance, making the
target point 150',100',20' and the station point 100',50',5.5' will give the
effect of looking up at the building.
8. Further tweak your view by changing the focal length of the lens (z for
zoom, I find 35 is good, lower than 27 and you start seeing distortion) or
typing pa (for pan). I find these two commands, plus the distance command,
will generally get you where you want to be. There are other dv options to
play around with it. If you mess up your view, typing u will undo your last
action in mid-command.
9. When you satisfied with you view hit enter until the command prompt comes
up. I'd recommend saving the view by typing v, then clicking the New button
and assigning a name.
