Reorder Parts in BOM - 2000i2 |
|
|
How do you reorder parts in the BOM of the drawing? The BOM is
created using part and assembly paremeter values and region to create
the ballons. The parameter in the drawing to drive the item in the
BOM is &rpt.index, but I can't seem locate this file.
TIA

Rpt.index is a pretty passive fellow. He doesn't drive anything. He isn't even a
file. He is just a report parameter. And he simply reports 'last man standing' and
the order that *something else* (probably a default sort order, like asm.mbr.name,
ascending) used to order the table entries.
You, the intelligent actor here, can set deliberate sorts with 'Table>Repeat
region>Sort region' and pick your repeat region to sort on. It will ask for a
parameter. You can specify anything, even one that isn't a column in the table ~
for example a component or part parameter, such as THIS_ORDER which is an integer
of values 1 thru 6: 1 for assemblies, 2 for subassemblies, 3 for designed parts,
4 for purchased parts/assemblies, 5 for bulk items, 6 for 'don't show'. Make up
your own order, this is just a technical question of methodology. In the end, you
have to manually set these, in the part or assembly, yourself as a part or
component parameter. It's not as hard as it sounds; it just comes down to
systematic and rigorous procedures.

You can use the SORT command in TABLE, or FIX INDEX to manually set a
value for the part or row.
Or you can change the actual order of the assembly, this also changes
the BOM listing.

If you want to have complete control of the order in which the parts
appear, use FIX INDEX. Just specify the region, select the cell of
the table and then tell ProE what number index item you want that to
be. We use this when making product manuals, so that the balloons on
the explode view follow each other in sequential order around the
assembly.

Worked well - thanks. For whatever reason the parts were not in the
order of the assembly when the drawing was created. |
