When in AutoCAD's LAYER dialog box (command alias: LA) and creating New
layers, simply type in a comma after the layer name and it will start
creating another new layer.

This is similar to the old school command line -LAYER and using the New
option and typinging in something like object, center, hidden (commas and no
spaces, as spaces are considered an enter).

The best thing is to create a template with these layers already in them...
but that's for another tip.

in the Layer Dialog box, click New, type in a name (before you are finished
type in a comma)

This will jump down and start a new layer, type in another layer name, (the
key is to end the name with a comma)

....the old-school method was to create layers via the command line with
something like (assuming an ENTER is being typed after each line... OR....
this is how you could write a script:

-LAYER
N
OBJECT,CENTER,HIDDEN,TEXT,DIM,TITLEBLOCK

and then you could set the colors, linetypes, etc...
