Re: pdf/tiff/printing with autocad |

It was mentioned in another post that a drawing is plotted
to the PDF format
because the owner of the drawing does not wish to provide an
editable file that
could be unethically borrowed from him and used by someone
else. It does happen!
There is no suitable conversion back from raster to vector;
notice I say "suitable"; because
there are many so-called conversion programs that aren't
worth the $$$. You can
probably get something to work for you, but you'll spend
more time in clean-up than
usable drafting.
As far as plotting from AutoCAD, you can load them as an
image file and stretch them
onto a 24x36, etc., but I find that just printing them out
of Windows (whatever version)
seems to work just fine. Granted, the scale will always
suffer some distortion. Adobe 6
Standard is OK, but Pro seems the way to go for now with the
bells and whistles it provide.
Hope this has helped you find some solution.

I am a professional detailer. More and more frequently we
are finding bid
documents sent to us on CD with all the drawings in pdf
format. I have
Autocad 2004. What is the easiest method to print these on
my hp plotter?
Convert the pdf's to tiff files and then print them as
image files? Does
this require a full blown version of adobe acrobat 6.0
(standard or
professional?) Any other programs out there that can
convert pdf''s to a
printable format? Any suggestions out there?
Thanks ,
Tom C.
