Dimension text above and below dim line |

I have seen it posted once, but cannot find the answer. Does anybody
know how to edit mtext so that there would be one line of text above the
dim line and another line of text below?

Walt, the only caveat is, you can't move the dim text anywhere away from the
default position when you do this, or it breaks the dimension line. |

You can use DIMTEDIT Left/Center/Right options for a limited set of
positions.
Wish there was more flexibility, though.

And I wish it would work (above/below) on leaders, such as diameter or radii.

First, I don't use AutoCAD's built-in mtext editor.
I hear it's much much improved over the R14 version, (I would hope so).
Still, I'll continue to use TextPad, thank you.
At any rate, I say this because I don't know if that might be (part of) the
problem.
But maybe not.
Another possibility - are you trying to edit the text INSIDE the properties
box on the Contents line?
If so, I'm wondering if you need two backslashes (ie \\P rather than \P) for
the paragraph returns?
Seems like this causes some difficulties with respects to the FIND command
as well. It has difficulties with finding dimension text override strings
after a \X or \P modifier (and you can unwittingly mangle them (by losing
the subsequent text), if you're not careful).
IOW, WE type \X or \P - but AutoCAD automatically converts these modifiers
to be \\X or \\P.
But I don't know if any of the above relates to the particular difficulties
you mention.
