We use Microstation J with the Modeler add-on package. We create parts from solids, and in the part file we create a drawing. So both the part and the drawing exist in the same file. I think this is different than any other software package commonly in use. We are looking at what it would take to transition our company to another s/w package, as Microstation J is old, labor intensive, and buggy. V8i would require significant additions to workflow to perform an unfolding operation correctly and there are likely other significant impacts I haven't come across yet.

I'm looking for suggestions on how we could handle efficiently create separate part and drawing files in a new CAD program format without a lot of effort. Is there a program that is already designed to convert the Modeler design and drawing file to a new structure?

Does anyone have experience or knowledge that could be helpful?

Thanks,
Chuck
