Hey guys, first post and glad to be part of the community.

So the BIM era is getting more popular as the days go by, and we are almost required to jump on the band wagon. I have somewhat of an understanding on BIM, yet i do not know what programs are the more streamly used out there for this procedure. We currently use Autocad 2010 (vanilla) with Quickpen Pipe for Pipe/Plumbing and InteliCAD for HVAC. We also have a Vicon cutting system that we use to send our shop drawings to be cut and start building duct. I am almost afraid that those 3rd party add-ons we have (quickpen/intelicad) will not be compatible when working on a BIM required process. Can someone shed some light perhaps I/we are looking at this too hard and it may really not be too hard to get started with it.
Thank you all.
