I cannot figure this one out.

I have two servers running distributed license servers. One is Homer and the
other is Bart. I have one user in Seattle (Bart) that needs to borrow a
license but cannot. The computer is a laptop on a docking station. (I
haven't tried undocking the laptop yet.)

Here are the particulars:

The laptop's AdskFlex_License_File system variable is specified as
"@BART;@HOMER"
The laptop's machine name is "JasonS".
The user logs in with the username "JasonS".

Here is a snip from the log showing how the server serves the license and
what attempt to borrow.

11:07:24 (lmgrd) Detecting other lmgrd processes...
11:07:24 (lmgrd) Done rereading
11:07:24 (lmgrd) FLEXlm (v9.22) started on BART (IBM PC) (12/14/2004)

11:07:24 (adskflex) Using options file: "K:\Program Files\Autodesk Network

11:07:24 (adskflex) Server started on BART for: 46300ACD_2005_0F
11:07:24 (adskflex) Max borrow interval for feature, 46300ACD_2005_0F, set
to 180 hours
11:07:24 (adskflex) INCLUDE_BORROW USER JasonS in 46300ACD_2005_0F
11:07:24 (adskflex) INCLUDE_BORROW USER jasons@JASONS in 46300ACD_2005_0F
11:08:48 (adskflex) OUT: "46300ACD_2005_0F" jasons@JASONS
11:09:26 (adskflex) IN: "46300ACD_2005_0F" jasons@JASONS
11:09:35 (adskflex) DENIED: "46300ACD_2005_0F" jasons@JASONS (User/host not
on INCLUDE list for feature (-39,349))
11:09:38 (adskflex) OUT: "46300ACD_2005_0F" jasons@JASONS

One of the issues that jumps out at me is why is this user showing up as
jasons@JASONS? All my other users on Homer show up with just their login ID,
not the login@machinename.

Here is my options file for Bart:

GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE ON
MAX_BORROW_HOURS 46300ACD_2005_0F 180
INCLUDE_BORROW 46300ACD_2005_0F USER JasonS
INCLUDE_BORROW 46300ACD_2005_0F USER jasons@JASONS

As you can see, I attempted to support the weird user name, but that doesn't
help, per the log.

I believe that the borrowed license locks to the network card used. If the
dock has its own network card, as well as the laptop, that might be part of
the problem. You might try connecting the laptop directly to the network to
borrow. If that works, that will narrow down the problem.

That does not help. The FlexLM.log file still says that user is not on the
include list.

Something that is odd here...

I see in Bart's log that JasonS is getting the network license. I also see
in Bart's log the denial of the borrow attempt. However, it is in Homer's
log (!) that I see:

9:30:21 (adskflex) Borrow error: 46300ACD_2005_0F Cannot borrow that long
(-104,563), 397740 seconds > 172800 seconds
9:30:21 (adskflex) DENIED: "46300ACD_2005_0F" jasons@JASONS (Cannot borrow
that long (-104,563))

Is this happening because both servers have the same feature ID? Why is the
attempt to borrow from Bart showing up on Homer?

I see things happening on Homer even after I told the workstation to only
look at Bart via the AdskFlex_License_File system variable.

Can borrowing only be identical on distributed servers?

Well, I moved the users into a group and I can get borrowing to work now. I
also seem to be able to set different timeouts per server, but I'd like some
confirmation that that is really possible with distributed servers.
