Hi,

I'm a developer trying to troubleshoot a problem occurring
within my client's intranet environment.

The user wants to download .DGN files from an intranet web site
so that he can view them automatically in Bentley View. This works
great from Netscape -- Bentley View automatically starts and
then loads the DGN file requested from the web site.

The problem is when the user tries to do the same in Internet
Explorer (IE), versions 5.x or 6.x. The file association for .DGN's
is set to Bentley View. This means the user can double-click a .DGN
file in Windows Explorer and Bentley View starts and then loads the
..DGN file just fine. Therefore, I know the file association is
correct. However, IE will not behave. It only prompts the user for
a file name so it can save the file. It refuses to let the user open the
file
instead of save. This is a major inconvenience as the user has to save
the file then hunt it down and open it manually. The user will soon
have to use only IE as Netscape is being removed from the environment.

Please help. I've not found any mention of this anywhere on the 'net
and I've tried a number of potential solutions with no luck.

Thanks,
Patrick
