Hi there, I have installed a network license in country A's server with 10 license and initially we purchased another 5 network license and installed in another country B's server. Both of them has separate serial number and both of them are license for autodesk map 2004. So, I have planned to make it as a distributed license server, so that whenever a client who installed CAD he will be redirected to country B when in country A the license is fully occupied, I heard this can be accomplished by setting in the environment variable both of the server name as below :

ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE and the value is = @serverA;@serverB

But it seems not working, everytime in serverA the license is fully occupied it doesn't redirect to serverB instead showing the "a valid license cannot be obtained error", is there any steps that i missed out, please give some opinions.....

Hi there Jerry thanks for the reply,

basically we have purchased 10 license in malaysia and installed in our server last year december and we have purchased another 5 new license last month and installed this in china as another license server, FYI we are having a intranet. These license are being shared between users from malaysia, philipine, china, korea, japan and india through intranet.

so, we purchased this 5 new license because user's are increasing and we had a plan so that china and malaysia license server can backup up each other and user will be triggered to either server in background.

Initially when i did the environment configuration changes in my pc in malaysia and try changing the sequence from @serverA;@serverB and @serverB;@serverA, it actually worked, it triggered according to the order, but now it is no more working and i didn't do any changes in that second server. what do you think might be the reason, please advice as a lot of user has been receiving the "invalid license could not be obtained" error, if i can figure this out, it would be great utilization of license.

Hi Jerry,

I just found out another thing, I have tested install autodesk map 2004 in another machine in china just now using china's network installation and it seems to search for license server in malaysia instead of the one in china. :( , not sure what's happening. Please also read my previous reply and advice

Jerry one more thing to ask,

in malaysia the license file is inside a folder like below :

c:\adlm2004\License\xxxxxxx.lic

in china it's :

c:\program files\autodesk network license manager\license\xxxxxxx.lic

So, just wondering, do you think the space in between the folder name can be an issue.

All please give ideas and advice if anyone encountered a situation like me.

The configuration described below is a violation of the Autodesk Software
License Agreement, which restricts use to the country of purchase. Intranet
usage, and use over a wide area network within country of purchase is
authorized by Autodesk, once a license is purchased within the individual
country. Any licenses currently being used outside country of purchase must
be returned to the original country of purchase. Please see local authorized
Autodesk Resellers for the purchase of licenses that may be required as a
result of the return indicated above. Once in compliance of the license
agreement please post here again if you continue to have questions.
