When doing a normal to is there a way to have the surface face you with an
edge in the direction I want? The view always seems to swing anywhere it
wants. Thanks

Rudy

You can pick a reference face for top orientation. First face picked is
normal, second is top orientation.

Doesn't work with edges or axes. Solidworks thinks that it's not
important and after all if we needed it they would have given it to us
already because they give us what we need, right?

In an assembly, the normal view of a part is dependent upon its top, front
and right planes. Front plane will be vertical and the right plane
horizontal to the screen
